This is a 100% Mourvèdre from Upland Vineyard. The word that comes to mind here is "androgeny". It is a wine both masculine and feminine. It is neither light nor heavy-bodied. There is fruit and there is pepper. It changes on the pallet as the dark fruits give way to a hint of smoke and tabacco, then finishes with a dash of black pepper. It is an amazing feat of contradictions that makes this wine so very interesting. You will want at least two of these...one now and one to save!
